NOTE: It is important you read the rules and regulations of the school before registering your child.  Registrations must be done in person at our facility
 
 
MOMMY AND ME (2 to 3 yrs of age accompanied by an adult )
A fun class where children can enjoy with their parent or caretaker the wonderful world of music and dance introducing children to creative movement concepts while sharing with other children.

The Toddlers ballet class (age to 2 1/2 - 3  ½ years old )

The perfect class for the youngest dancer! Our class focuses on creating a friendly environment where the young toddler will be introduced to the basics of ballet through fun activities. The child will develop basic skills like hoping, jumping, skipping and coordination. Other music elements are introduced to develop sense of rhythm and musicality.
45 minute class, once a week.

Parents are recommended to patiently wait outside the studios and trust our outstanding professional faculty to work with the children to better get them adapted to their peers, learning how to work individually within a group and work also as a team.

 


Musical Kinder I & II (3 1/2 – 5 ½  years old) – Two Levels

This class is designed to introduce your child to rhythm and movement through music, helping develop muscle coordination. It helps boys and girls develop motor skills with the use of music and games. We focus on movement, body control, rhythm and memory as the children learn through a fun routine of exercises and dance steps. Their confidence and self-esteem soar as they master new skills and become more self-assured and independent. Listening and direction following are emphasized in this class.
One class a week.
Musical Kinder II students can always add a second class.

 


Pre Ballet I - II (6-8 year old) – Two Levels

An introduction to ballet beginning with placement of body and progressing through basic steps, developing movement quality and musicality, and preparing the child for the excitement and discipline of the art of Ballet. It helps students learn body awareness, concentration, self-control, and respect. Space awareness is introduced through formations, laterality exercises and following basic combinations of steps that will increase their memory and coordination skills.
One or two classes a week
Classes from other disciplines – Tap, Character, Hip Hop and Flamenco are also available for children 5 years of age and older.
Children in Pre Ballet 1 and up are allowed to take an additional class if requested.

HOW TO MAKE A BALLET BUN

   

 

 

Young Cavaliers Class:  5 to 8 years of age

Young boys learn the fundamentals of ballet.  Classes will focus on coordination, stretching, jumps and learning ballet concepts, applicable to both genders. Boys will also learn ways of accomplishing male-specific ballet vocabulary and male performance techniques.
It is highly recommended that young boys take an additional mixed gender class to better develop their social skills


Boys Class  9 - 14 years of age

Classes will concentrate on a complete ballet class for the intermediate level.  It will demand a higher level of concentration, technique, artistry, and mastery of skills set in the class. Acceptance into Boys Intermediate is by audition only.
The Dr. Jules Scholarship Fund program is available for male students only covering tuition. The awarding process is based on a careful review of the student's artistic, academic and finance portfolio. Scholarships are awarded contingent upon the student's continued performance, diligence in his work, and dedication to achieving excellence. Students who receive scholarships are role models for their peers. Scholarships are renewable, and are reviewed in early spring each year.

SCHOLARSHIP FORM 

Classes for Adults

Adult Beginning Ballet – The program is suitable for the beginner teen/ adult as well as students who would like to work in a slower paced environment, this class progresses slowly and is open to adult beginners at any point in the school year. Attention is paid to proper body alignment, use of the legs and feet, and developing movement sequences through coordination of the arms and head. This class is offered twice weekly in the evenings.

Open Intermediate/Advanced Ballet for Adults – These morning classes are structured for student’s teen/adult with some background in ballet. Classes take place Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30 am to 11 am where students will work on basic barre exercise, petite allegro, pirouettes, combinations from the corner and grand allegro. Classes are accompanied by live pianist.

5 Reasons Adults Should Take Ballet 


Modern/Contemporary:

Intermediate: An introduction to beginner modern and contemporary technique that will prepare students to balance between the strictness of ballet and freer movement. Emphasis placed on large, full movements done to rhythmical phrases. A fun introduction to different Dance techniques.


Intermediate/Advanced: A progressive practice of various techniques such as "Taylor" and "Horton" with emphasis placed on structure and musicality. Students will be expected to focus on grounded movement while expanding their dance vocabulary.

 


Hip-Hop Class

This hugely popular class is being offered for boys and girls who are interested in learning the basics of this urban style. Hip hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements.

 

 

Character Classes

Based on the Russian Character Dance Syllabus of the Vaganova Method, students in both levels of character dance will study barre and center work that combines classical ballet technique with national dances from eastern and western Europe. Character Dance explores many different cultures and their traditional dances. This class will cover Polish Mazurka, Spanish Flamenco, Hungarian Gypsy, Russian Folk and Classic Flamenco.  Court Dance teaches students some of the oldest traditional English, Russian, Spanish and French Court and Peasant dances. Only for students in the Professional Division.

 

   
   

STUDENTS DIVISION

 

Students are introduced to progressive levels of ballet technique following the School curriculum. They are promoted according to individual progress in acquiring technique and strength.

  • Ballet I ( 8 yrs of age and up)
  • Ballet II
  • Youth Ballet

All these classes emphasize on correct placement, coordination and control; & students learn vocabulary of classical ballet and are placed in the proper level for maximum progress. Students will develop the ability to coordinate simple movements to produce a combination of steps within the range of their own physical capacity.  Students’ performance will show a developing special awareness, sensitivity to music and an ability to work with others. It is mandatory to take a minimum of two classes a week. Students might be selected to join the professional division.

 

PROFESSIONAL DIVISION 

Entrance by audition only. Auditions are required for admission. Students selected for this level concentrate on perfecting technique and developing artistry, and a foundation is laid on which to build a professional career. Students in this division have frequent opportunities to perform with the Company. Trainees and Junior Corps members to the Company are drawn from the Professional Division.
The Professional Division follows the Vaganova Method and curriculum.
Students are subject to an annual examination until graduation, obtaining a Diploma by a certified Vaganova teacher.
Most classes are accompanied by live piano.

   
Ballet Preparatory I & II- (By audition only) – Vaganova I – II

These classes are designed to work on control of the body to develop the correct technique for the future. Introduction to the Vaganova method, high discipline and a strong work out of the muscles is emphasized. Students achieve precision, technical proficiency, core stability, and fluent use of the dance movement vocabulary.
Students are required to participate in several performances throughout the year as part of their training, including The Nutcracker, Chipollino, Fairy Doll, etc

 

 

 

 

 


Intermediate I , II & Pre-Advanced- (By audition only) – Three years – Vaganova III & IV

Ballet technique for students who have developed special abilities and conditions and have the commitment to work their best. Students must take extra classes to be “en Pointes”. Students from these levels will be required to participate in the Company performances.
Students may take two to three years of training until completing the curriculum.

 

 

 

 

 


Advanced - (By audition only) – Vaganova V- VIII

Ballet Master and Director Vladimir Issaev trains advanced and professional dancers in the Vaganova Method. Classes are designed to prepare the serious student to dance complete classical ballets. Training includes Pointe Classes, Adagios, Variations, Pas de Deux and Men’s Technique.
Pointe - An extension of ballet technique, which covers all aspects of pointe (toe) work
Students are required to perform with our professional company in order to complete the program Vaganova Curriculum during the four years of the program.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
 

ADDITIONAL CLASSES

 
   
VARIATIONS CLASSES FOR VAGANOVA IV THROUGH VIII

Students learn excerpts from classical ballets, in separate classes for boy and girls. Included are variations from Petipa, Bournonville, Vaganova, Perrot among other classical choreographers. They are taught by faculty members who are principal and soloist dancers from Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida and have an extensive performance experience. Students will receive individual coaching and corrections. Students will be chosen to perform these variations either in competitions or during the various productions of the season.


 

Baby Tap - (Children) Develops style and is excellent for rhythm, timing and sharpness of footwork

This is an introduction to tap using basic tap steps and slow music so children can develop a sense of rhythm and learn to count music while dancing at the same time.  Basic combinations of rhythmic, percussive movements of traditional jazz style. This is a wonderful way to expand energy and learn to dance at the same time.

 

FLAMENCO

  Flamenco dancing is an incredibly emotive dance style, with the dancer always striving to express his or her emotions through movement.
Students will encompass the basic technique of foot and arm work and begin to work within the "compás" (rhythmic structure). The students will work with "palmas" (handclapping) as an accompaniment to certain flamenco "palos" (songs or dances). Students will also begin to learn the first of the "Sevillanas", a very popular dance from Sevilla.


 
EVALUATIONS & OBSERVATION CLASSES

 

 

Students are evaluated twice a year. They might be placed in a different level depending on their progress, conduct, attendance and punctuality, as well as their commitment spirit.
Student placement is at the sole discretion of the Artistic Director. A personal meeting with the parent and the student will be scheduled to discuss any disagreement.
